Crowsnest River Fishing Report:
Date: 2007 Season
In a Word: Good to Outstanding
Summary: The Crowsnest lived up to its reputation as a world-class rainbow
trout stream in 2007. Our season started with several unbelievable early-season trips and the early summer continued the same
level of above-average size and numbers of fish. As we entered the hottest summer in 60+ years, temperatures in this wonderful
river stayed in safe ranges and we continued to find good fish even with higher-than-normal pressure (thanks to access to
several of the other popular rivers in this area being closed because of fire concerns). Once we had some cooler evenings
in the mountains in September, the classic fall fishing came into its own and we had a number of great trips to close out
the year. All in all, the Crowsnest is in great shape and continues to produce excellent fly fishing for rainbow trout for
all levels of anglers.
SPECIAL NOTE: We saw one of the nicest Crowsnest bull's come to hand this spring, along with
several rainbows 20in or better--in fact, we had more 20in-class rainbows to hand in 2007 than any previous year! See below
for pics of a few of them.
Water Clarity: N/A

Active Bugs: N/A
Suggested Flies: See our Hatch Charts for suggestions of which flies to bring at the various times of the season.
Pictures from 2007 Crowsnest River Trips:
Below is a selection of images from our trips to the Crowsnest
during the 2007 season. We'd love to include all the pictures from each trip, but we'd crash our server! Run your mouse over
each image for caption information. You'll notice a lack of pictures from September and October (months that are known to
be outstanding on the Crowsnest)...this is because many of the rivers in our forested areas were closed for more than a month
in late-summer because of fire danger, so when they opened in September we overdosed on them! Drop by our Oldman River and Mountain Streams pages for plenty of fall colours--both of the piscatorial and scenic variety!
