Highwood River Fishing Report:
Date: 2007 Season
In a Word: Excellent
Summary: The Highwood may have received more pressure in 2007 than any previous
year, thanks to the mountain streams of the Oldman drainage being closed due to fire concerns for all of August and in some
parts half of September. BUT...the river just consistently produced great fishing for its native cutthroat and bull trout.
The bugs were affected by the prolonged dry stretch mid-summer, but were still prolific in most stretches, and the river was
one of the stand-out dry fly streams this year. Cutts were consistently THICK and healthy, with several fish in the upper-teens
to 20in being taken. And as you'll see below, we saw several nice bulls including a 31in beauty!
